Ship Management System Development
This course is designed to assist in complying with the anticipated Marine Safety Management Regulations (MSMSR). It supports Ship Managers and Masters in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a Safety Management System (SMS). The proposed Regulations aim to strengthen the maritime safety culture in day-to-day operations, including emergency procedures, by extending SMS mandates to a larger portion of vessels operating in Canadian waters.
Although smaller vessels may not fully adhere to the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, they still require an SMS onboard, outlining safe operating procedures, risk mitigation measures, and addressing foreseeable risks. The proposed Regulations would extend SMS mandates to non-SOLAS vessels, including small commercial vessels. Each vessel classification will have specific SMS requirements tailored to its size and operational needs. This course will guide you in writing your own SMS.
