Communications (Former Comm 1)
The Western Maritime Institute Communications Level 1 Course prepares the participant to sit a Transport Canada approved exam.
Communications Level 1 is required for:
Watchkeeping Mate, Near Coastal
Mate 500GT, Domestic
Master 500GT, Domestic
Fishing Master 3
The course covers the following topics:
- Ability to use the International Code of Signals;
- The ability to use the Radio Aids to Marine Navigation;
- The ability to use the Annual Edition of the Notices to Mariners.
The student must be at least 16-years of age to enroll in this course.
